Population growth, urbanization and change in lifestyle with economic growth are responsible for increase in solid waste generation and change in its composition. The unscientific disposal of solid waste causes the pollution of environment in generaland leachate in specific which adversely affects the health of people. Biolandfill is a good option for treatment of leachate and management of solid waste. This study focused on the effect of leachate recirculation in bioreactor landfill on stabilization of solid waste and Ieachte itself. The MSW was filled into the bioreactor landfill and leachate was prepared. The bioreactor was operated with leachate recirculation to simulate bioreactor landfill. The leachate collected was recirculated back into bioreactor landfill at a rate of 20 ml/min. During study period, high COD removal was observed when VFA alkalinity ratio was less than 0.8. The study showed that COD reduction was 94.38% and almost all studied parameters showed decreasing trends of their concentration with time.
