To help physically and emotionally challenged people, Long Island Riding for the Handicapped Association offers therapeutic riding. Free. LIRHA, located in Syosset, New York, is able to offer free horseback riding therapy because of the generosity ofpeople willing to donate, participate in fundraisers and volunteer. These combined factors pay for physical therapists and instructors as well as the horses they lease. And this generosity has brought about undeniable differences in the students enrolled, from physical benefits to increased self-esteem.
