23rd European Childhood Obesity Group (ECOG) Congress Liverpool 13th-15th of November 2013

The European Childhood Obesity Group (ECOG) congress brought together 30 speakers and childhood obesity experts and young scientists from over 20 countries. The first day of the congress hosted a joint and high-level session with the UK Association for the Study of Obesity (ASO): Childhood Obesity in 2013: Developments in Science, Policy and Practice. The key topics were: Public health and public health policies: designing a healthy environment. Psychology in the spotlight and its role in prevention and treatment. Learning to eat: critical periods in development. Novel ideas and new developments. The plenary lectures were followed by Workshops. Participants were split into smaller groups to discuss and develop ideas for policy and action. Plenary lectures' PPT presentations are available on ECOG's website: http://www.ecog-obesity.eu. The Congress provided an excellent opportunity to meet, and share information and experiences with colleagues from across Europe and beyond. Next year the Congress will be held in Salzburg from 13-15 November 2014.
