Over the last decades, the ability to detect pathology using medical imaging has increased remarkably. Our reliance on this modality for diagnosis has never been greater. But on occasion, even the most advanced mode of medical imaging may mislead the diagnostician and hence misdirect management. The surgeon must be wary of such occasions, and be prepared to investigate cases not responding to treatment to further to determine whether the original treatment plan was appropriate.
