US weekly crude steel output inches higher

US crude steel production marched higher this week as capacity utilization approached 70pc. Utilization rates crept up to 69.4pc for the week ending 17 October, up from 67.9pc in the prior week, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Crude steel production measured 1.53mn st in the latest week, a 2.2pc increase in output compared with the prior week but a 15pc decrease compared to the same period in 2019. N^Will Ehrhardt
