GlobalFoundries, Ford initiate chip partnership

Automaker Ford Motor and semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries signed a non-binding agreement to partner on boosting semiconductor supplies for both Ford and the automotive industry. This agreement is the first step towards GlobalFoundries creating an additional supply for Ford's current vehicle offerings as well as joint research to address growing demand. While specific project plans were not announced, the two companies stated they are exploring semiconductors related to battery management, in-vehicle networking, and automated driving systems.
