Ghana awards new deepwater license to Eni, Vitol

London-Ghana has awarded a new deepwater exploration license to an Eni-led consortium as the West African country looks to maintain upstream spending and boost its oil output in the next two years. A consortium comprising Eni as the operator (42.47%), Vitol (33.97%), state-owned Ghana National Petroleum Corp. (10%), Woodfields (9.55%) and Explorco (4%) was awarded the license for Offshore Cape Three Points Block 4, located in the deepwater Tano Basin, Eni said. The new block covers an area of 1,127 sq km in water depths ranging from 100 to 1,200 meters and partially surrounds the existing OCTP block already operated by Eni.
