摘要

Two weeks after voting to impose a no-fly zone over Libya, the UN Security Council this week slapped more sanctions on Laurent Gbagbo, the former president of Cote d'Ivoire, over his refusal to step down. The sanctions also impose a travel ban and asset freeze on Gbagbo's wife and three associates. The new sanctions come amid Gbagbo's continued refusal to concede defeat to Alassane Ouattara following disputed elections last November. Since the poll, the UN reckons 1 million people have fled their homes and more than 470 have been killed.
