Rosneft: Oil Must Rise Over $45 to Avoid Shortage

The oil price must be over $45 per barrel, or even $50/bbl, to attract fresh upstream investment and avoid a global oil supply crunch before the end of the decade, the head of Russia's Rosneft, Igor Sechin, said on Tuesday. Sechin argued that crucial talks between key oil producers in recent months had already helped lift oil prices from lows of under $30 in January to over $40 this week. "The result of our work is already visible," Sechin told the Financial Times Commodities Global Summit in Lausanne, Switzerland.
