Russian state-controlled Rosneft said its net oil production share in Venezuela grew by 17.6% in 2017 to 3.14 million metric tons (63,000 b/d). The Russian major attributed the rise in its Venezuelan production — its largest foreign source of oil output — to the boost in its share in the Petromonagas joint venture in 2016 from 16.67% to 40%, as well as the start-up of early production from a well in the North Carabobo-2 field, in which it also holds a 40% stake.
