Arbitrage imports weigh on naphtha

Gasoline margins strengthened slightly on a rise in regional demand. But plentiful imports weighed on the naphtha and fuel oil markets. Prompt jet fuel remained at a discount to forward values despite limited exports from Japan (see graph, left). Chinese refners face a slow down in domestic middle distillate demand and are likely to increase jet fuel exports.
