A Tennessee man indicted for stealing at least $250,000 of busheling scrap metal from Albertville, Ala.-based Progress Rail Services Corp. has had his restitution reduced by an appeals court. Gary Sulo Alto was given a six-year sentence and must pay $27,000 in restitution to Progress Rail. Alto was originally charged, along with three co-defendants, for one count of theft of property valued at $250,000 or more and one count of conspiracy to commit theft from the New Hope, Tenn., facility. Alto entered into a plea agreement on one count of theft.
