摘要

Although the wide spectrum of physiological and/or patho-physiological actions of histamine within the CNS has long been thought to be due to histamine of neuronal origin, the brain histamine pool is divided equally between non-neuronal and neuronal cells (20, 40, 53, 62), with brain mast cells being the major source of the non-neuronal histamine (19,21,37, 53, 62). It seems likely that some of the many effects of histamine within the CNS are due to histamine originating from brain mast cells when type-I allergy breaks out in the CNS. In fact, we recently demonstrated that degranulation of mast cells located in the median eminence of the hypothalamus activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) axis in response to either 1) stimulation with such pharmacologic agents as C48/80, a histamine liberator from mast cells, in normal animals (42) or 2) anexogenous antigen-challenge in animals previously sensitized with IgE (41).
