Nufarm ahead in Brazil in Q1

Nufarm’s agrochemical sales in Brazil in the first quarter of its fiscal 2014 (August-October 2013) were “well above” those in the same period last year. The Brazilian market continues to show strong growth due to increased plantings, higher investment in inputs to improve yields and increased pest pressure in soybeans, notes Nufarm’s managing director, Doug Rathbone. Mr Rathbone says that the business is not only expanding in line with the market in general but is “clearly taking market share in a number of our target segments”. The company’s high-load glyphosate herbicide, Crucial, which it launched last year continues to perform very strongly, as are a number of other products, Mr Rathbone points out.
