Combination of laryngeal mask airway and pediatric boussignac bougie for difficult tracheal intubation in a newborn with goldenhar syndrome

Goldenhar syndrome is a rare congenital condition characterized by craniofacial anomalies and verte-bral, cardiac, renal, and central nervous system defects. Airway management is a major concern in patients with Goldenhar syndrome.The Boussignac bougie is frequently used to facilitate tracheal intubation when the view of the glottic opening is restricted. Reports have described the use of a gum elastic bougie through a laryngeal mask airway (LMA) for cases of difficult intubation in adults.3'4 Here we describe the use of a Boussignac bougie and LMA for tracheal intubation of a newborn with Goldenhar syndrome. Patient's parents have read and accepted the presentation of this case.
