Exclusive: Iran's PGPIC aims to be leader in global petchems ranking

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (PGPIC; Tehran, Iran), the largest petrochemicals player in Iran, has its sights set on becoming a global industry leader through organic growth and joint ventures (JVs) with overseas companies. Adel Nejadsalim, managing director or PGPIC, tells CW the company plans to almost double its petro- chemicals capacity by 2020 and is in discussions with a number of companies to form JVs. “Currently we have ?10 billion [($11 billion)] worth of projects under way, most of them expected to begin opera- tions in 2018. The bulk of these investments were planned during the sanctions era, and with the global opening toward Iran, we will be able to invest in other proftable projects,” Nejadsalim says.
