Indian oil & gas sector to attract $40-bn investment for E&P activities: Oil Minister

Investments totaling $40-bn will come into the Indian oil & gas exploration and production (E&P) sector in the next 4-5 years, according to Mr. Dhar-mendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas. Speaking at a roadshow to drum up interest in oil fields that will be put up for bidding in December, Mr. Pradhan said the new hydrocarbon policy has already received investment commitment of $25-bn. "Under the open acreage licensing (OAL) policy, $5-6 bn is expected to come into exploration and $20-30 bn in development work," Mr. Pradhan said.
