Shell replaces Moerdijk cracker furnaces to cut emissions

Shell has announced that it will replace the furnaces at its Moerdijk,Netherlands,steam cracker in a move that will reduce the plant's greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions.Shell told CW earlier this year that it was studying the project.Shell will install 8 new furnaces in place of 16 older units without reducing capacity at the facility.The Moerdijk cracker is one of Europe's biggest with an ethylene capacity of 940,000 metric tons/year.
