Introduction of life cycle costing and its applications - application of LCC to design of emergency shutdown systems in chemical process industry

According to an international standard IEC60300-3-3 titled "life cycle costing", life cycle cost of a product over its life cycle that is time interval between a product's conception anti its disposal. Interests in LCC optimization have been emerging from a viewpoint of asset management. This paper introduces a methodology of LCC analysis, which consists of six basic processes, and presents an example of application of LCC, to design of emergency shutdown systems in chemical process industry.
