Effect of the geometry of packers of oil extracting equipment upon the self-sealing

Results of studies are demonstrated which allow to interpret differently the effect of self-sealing by the oil well packers with elastic intricately shaped components with passage holes arranged concentrically and eccentrically. Theoretical and experimental validation of the geometrical shapes and dimensional parameters have been validated when they differ from those disclosed in the classic theory of seals. An engineering method has been developed how to determine the coefficients of dimensionless parameters characterizing geometrical shapes, dimensions and loading conditions of elastic components of packers.
