Plethysmographic variability index: Everywhere for everyone?

We read with great interest the meta-analysis of Yin and Ho regarding the use of plethysmographic variability index (PVI) to predict fluid responsiveness [1]. The authors concluded that PVI had a reasonable ability to predict preload responsiveness in peri-operative patients. We would like to clarify two major points concerning the conditions of applications of PVI.
