Our cover story this issue focuses on extruded products- specifically as they are used in the building and construction (B&C) market. B&C applications represent the largest single market for extrusions in the U.S. and Canada, and their usage continues to grow. Figures just released by the Aluminum Association and the Aluminum Extruders Council show domestic consumption of aluminum extrusions totaled 4.42 billion pounds in 2005-an increase of 5.7 percent over 2004-with shipments of aluminum extrusions to the B&C market increasing 4.4 percent over die previous year.
