Callus cultures were initiated from leaf explants of diploid cv. Industrial'naya and tetraploid cv. Ramonskaya 023 on MS media. Cytogenetic analyses were conducted over 20 subcultures (each subculture lasting 6-7 days). Results showed an increase inpolyploidization with increasing number of subcultures. Diploids, tetraploids and aneuploids were observed among the regenerants. The highest frequency of morphological somaclonal variants was obtained from calluses in the intermediate subcultures.
