MORPHOMETRIC CHARACTERISTICS OF HYPOPYGIUM IN MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY DOLICHOPODIDAE (DIPTERA) RELATED TO ITS SYSTEMATICS

The family Dolichopodidae (496 species of 128 genera) was investigated to study the morphology of hypopygium. Twenty morphological and morphometric characteristics were distinguished; using these criteria, a parsimonic dendrogram of Dolichopodidae subfamilies was constructed. The variance analysis of the morphometric data allowed revealing diagnostic characteristics for Dolichopodidae subfamilies and genera. Such characteristics as relative length of epandtium, surstylus, cercus, apical and basoventral epandrial processes can be used for the taxonomic diagnostics of subfamilies and genera.
