Gerdau schedules October outage at Texas rod facility

Gerdau Long Steel North America is planning a five- to 10-day outage at its steel mill in Beaumont, Texas, in early October, a company spokesman confirmed Wednesday. The Tampa, Fla.-based steelmaker, a unit of Brazil's Gerdau SA, will use the time to complete upgrades to the facility's rolling mill and finishing end, the spokesman told AMM in an e-mail.
