摘要

While the "HIP" process may sound like a way for those in the industry to become more contemporary and in vogue, unfortunately it does not offer us such hope, as Warren Hunt explains. Instead, HIP stands for hot isostatic pressing, and is a process that uses the combined effects of temperature and pressure to densify materials for improved properties. With both the increasing need for structural aluminium castings with improved properties and the development of more cost-effective variations of the HIP process at hand, this area promises to be a "hot" one in the near future.
