China has undergone huge growth in both production and consumption of aluminium extrusions in the past few years and after 50 years of growth now boasts some of the world's largest extrusion companies including Liaoning Zhongwang, Asian Aluminum, Guangdong Fengly and Nanping Aluminum. In 2007, output of extrusion reached 6900 kt, a jump of 34.22 percent from the previous year while total capacity reached 7310 kt (Fig 1). With such figures, China's total production of extrusion accounted for 38 percent of the world's total. Annual production gained 22.8 percent on average maintaining China's role as the largest producer of aluminium extrusions since 2001.
