Application of Desiccant Air Conditioning Systems for Agricultural Product Storage

The study investigated the possibility of using desiccant air conditioning system for agricultural products storage. In the beginning, required temperature and relative humidity conditions for several types of fresh and dried agricultural products were investigated, and a desiccant air conditioning system (DAC) was proposed. Then, the dehumidification performance of desiccant blocks to achieve required latent load is experimentally evaluated. Finally, the overall performance of proposed DAC system is calculated by heat and mass transfer equations of the system. The results of study showed that the proposed DAC system can successfully achieve the latent and sensible load of air conditioning for storage of fresh and dried agricultural products.
