We read with interest a recent article on transmigration, of maxillary canines (Shapira Y, Kuftinec MM. Unusual intraosseous transmigration of a palatally impacted canine. Am J Orthod Dentofacial Orthop 2005;127:360-3) and the thoughtful comments that were subsequently published in Readers' Forum (Batra P, Leyland L. Unusual transmigration of an impacted canine; Sbapira Y, Kuftinec MM. Authors' response, Am J Orthod Dentofacial Orthop 2005;128:146-7). However, we have a few additional observations on the radiographic interpretation of maxillary transmigrated canines. There are now at least 4 published reports about maxillary canine transmigration, bringing the total reported cases to 8.
