Examine a microwave-simulator in design of power amplifier modules for mobile terminals

A microwave simulator is inevitable for quick development of a product and development cost reduction. However, there are many problems which must be solved. In some situation, the discrepancy between a simulation result and a measurement result can not be reduced in acceptable range. In other situation, the simulation takes too much time to be useful in acquiring required precision. This paper examines these problems from the power amplifier designer's standpoint using the commercial microwave simulator. Moreover, the technique of using a microwave simulator for product development is also examined.
