The second most rewarding experience

Although being Stevie's husband and Kate's father wins in a walk, being the editor of American Libraries has been the second most rewarding experience of my life. But five-and-a-half years of ceaseless deadlines tell me unequivocally that it's time tomove on. So, by the time you see this, I will have spent a week on a beach in Florida and two weeks in my new job as project and marketing specialist for Endeavor Information Systems. But what a ride it's been! Being the editor of AL enabled me to havesome amazing experiences, including spending quality time with two personal heroes: Tom Wolfe and Ray Bradbury. If ALA Headquarters burst into flames, the first thing I'd save is the letter from Tom that hangs on my office wall. Tom Wolfe praising Tom Gaughan's writing. Amazing! The trea-, sured copies of Dandelion Wine, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Fahrenheit 451, and The Illustrated Man that Ray signed for Stevie, Kate, and me are already safely at home.
