摘要

Sargassum polyporum Montagne recorded firstly based on the specimen collected from Macau, south China is distributed in Ryukyu Islands, Japan. This species is characterized by:1)discoid and conical holdfast and terete stem with warty surface; 2) terete main branch, spines arising from the surface densely; 3)lanceolate leaves, furcate one or two times with rippling margin; 4) spherical vesicles with short stalk and 5) monoecious receptacles with small vesicle. It is difficult to distinguish S. polyporum from S. polyphyllum and S. polyceratium by morphological characteristics.
