日本産南方系ホンタワラ属【15】ヒイラギモクとなった日本産Sargassum ilicifolium(2)

摘要

Sargassum ilicifolium (Turner) C. Agardh which the tip of the leaf branching like a cup shape is widely distributed in the coastal areas of southern Japan. This species is characterized by:1)discoid and scutellate holdfast, and terete stem with smooth surface; 2) terete or slightly compressed main branch; 3)lanceolate, oblanceolate and ovate leaves, with furcated margin like a cup on the top of the leaf; 4) spherical vesicles with wing on the side of vesicle and 5) dioecious receptacles. S. ilicifolium was recorded as new species in Japan, because S. cristaefolium and S. duplicatum became the synonym of 5. ilicifolium in 2009. Therefore Japanese name of S. ilicifolium has been proposed as the Hiiragi-moku.
