Postindentation slow growth of cracks in structural ceramics

Different forms of representation of data on subcritical crack growth which makes it possible to compare the materials and/or to treat the physical meaning of the parameters of slow crack growth (SCG) are discussed For hot-pressed materialsOTM-914 and composition material Si{sub}3N{sub}4 - SiC(NK) we managed to determine the SCG parameters. The data spread is rather high which can be attributed both to the errors of method and to the variation of properties in the bulk of the material,surface oxidation, etc.
