Growth of Rhizobium leguminosarum in a periodic pressure oscillating,solid-state fermentation of wheat straw

Wheat straw impregnated with a nutrient solution was used to culture Rhizobium leguminosarum.The fermentation was carried out in a periodic pressure,oscillating,solid-state fermenter.At 30degC and 3 atm,Rhizobium leguminosarum grew to 5.3X10~(10) c.f.u.g~(-1) substrate dry matter in about 36 h,while only 1.8X10~(10)c.f.u.g~(-1) substrate dry matter was obtained in a conventional static tray fermenter.
