Honda fuel cell vehicle development

Automotive manufactures are making efforts through their R&D activities to solve increasing problems such as local air pollution, which is caused by automotive emissions as well as carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming. Besides, scarcity of fossilA@ energy resources may become an issue in the future. Fuel cell vehicle(FCV) is considered to be a solution for these three social issues and it is being developed aggressively. Honda became the first in the world to receive a certification to sell Honda FCV 'FCX" in the United States and to introduce FCX in both Japan and the United States on December 2, 2002. In this paper, FCX is introduced along with its future issues.
