Development of 3 wet-on paint process technology for two-tone color

As for the activities on the vehicle production in recent years, reduction of CO{sub}2 emission from the plant, recycling and the effective use of sub-generation things were considered from the viewpoint of the earth environmental protection in addition to the improvement of the customer satisfaction. In paint area also, it positively works on environmental issues such as the VOC reductions in addition to the improvement of the production efficiency. Mazda is developing a new technology aiming at the construction of a new process shortening painting system which is able to solve the issue in total, and at this time, has developed and launched the 3 wet-on two-tone painting system as the first step. This technology achieved shortening the process from current four coats painting to three coats painting for two-tone painting process, and it was an epoch-making painting technology. The great improvement of the production efficiency and the VOC reduction, etc. were achieved.
