A detailed account of the reasons why the researchers and railway operators of many countries couldnit work out and create railway wheel rolling is given in the article. One of the main reasons of such a situation is the absence of the theory based on mathematical geometry description of the wheel rim and as the result of it the impossibility of making special facilities for profile machining on the metalworking machine tools with the digital program-control.
