摘要

The hydration of electrically fused commercial refractory magnesia grains with single crystal like cubic shape was studied after storage in open room atmosphere under the periodic changes of humidity and temperatures over a period of four years. A magnesium hydroxide layer produced on the surface of the magnesia controls the diffusion of moisture from the air to the magnesia surface and the hydration of the magnesia might be suppressed under the circumstance in which dry and wet conditions repeat seasonally.
