Long-pulsed neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser treatment for port wine stains.

To the Editor: Yang et al have underscored the need for improved treatment of port wine stains. They have noted less than complete clearing in many patients with existing laser technologies that do not adequately result in sufficient vascular injury to the reticular dermis. These authors have performed a study comparing the efficacy of the 595-nm pulsed dye laser and the 1064 neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser while concluding there was equivalent efficacy between the two devices.
