Here/In This Issue and There/Abstract Thinking: The Growing, and Changing, Landscape of Child and Adolescent Mental Healthcare Delivery

Over time, many clinical providers intuitively note the emergence of certain trends in their patient cohort. Further discussion with colleagues provides additional collective experience and impressions on the efficacy of one medication compared to another, regional variations in symptom presentation, usefulness of community resources, and so on. It is equally important to contextualize these local intuitions with empirical analyses assessing these patterns at a global level. This month’s Journal includes several articles examining issues across the mental health system, providing a bird’s-eye view of trends affecting psychiatric practice.
