The high prevalence of BRCA1 and BRCA2 germline mutations in the US (approximately 1 in 350 individuals overall and a significantly higher rate in selected subpopulations), and even higher prevalence of Lynch syndrome (1 in 279), highlights the potential clinical impact of these conditions. Increased awareness of their diagnosis, underlying genetics, genetic counseling and testing, current management guidelines, and implications for cancer treatment is essential for advanced practitioners.
