The increase of the order of astatism by the modification of some parameters of the Equivalent Elastic System allows a decrease in the intensity of the whole components of the spectra of vibrations generated in the cutting zone, and especially those of low frequency. By an example taken from a machining head of standard-unit type machine-tools, this work underlines this approach of fighting against the vibrations transmitted from the ground and the foundation to precision machine-tools. Some experimental data are compared to the computational results for a theoretical confirmation of the case strategy based on the concentrated masses model. A corresponding calculation flow chart is drawn up. For some cutting conditions, the Nyquist curve of the open system shows a possibility of the dynamic system to pass from the state of instability to that of stability. As practical recommendation, the mass of the tool holder is recalculated for an eventual re-conception.
