摘要

Frenchbean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a protein rich grain legume mainly grown in North and central India. Though the crop has high yield potential, its average yield is very low in plains. The crop is highly sensitive to moisture variation and responds to irrigation due to spreading type root system which is mostly concentrated at a soil depth of 30 to 45 cm (Sushant et al. 1999). Like other leguminous crops, it also responds well to phosphorus application (Ahlawat and Sharma 1989). Keeping above points in view, the present study was carried out with an aim at evaluating the response of frenchbean to irrigation scheduling and phosphorus in Inceptisol of West Bengal.
