Tribute to my friend and colleague, Dr. Marsha Heims.

I first met Marsha Heims at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Nursing in 1980, and it was the beginning of a 30-year journey, first as faculty colleagues, and later as friends. Marsha and I had a great deal in common: We both graduated in 1969 with a bachelor of science degree in nursing, we both were passionate about family nursing, especially when children were involved, and we shared a strong commitment to excellence in family nursing practice. It was the Carol A. Lindeman era at OSHU and we both believed with Dean Lindeman that nursing education and research ultimately are in service of practice, and so they must be of the highest quality.
