WEST EUROPE'S previously flourishing car market, after hovering well above the 14m mark for the past half dozen years thanks to a perpetually inflating consumer debt bubble, has slipped to lows not seen for more than a decade. Despite this year's encouraging bounce back, sparked entirely by scrappage incentives and seen as little more than a temporary respite, a sustainable return to pre-crisis sales levels now remains more than five years away, according to a brand-new AID study.
