Flavonoids are important chemical and pharmacological compounds. A large group of polyphenolic phytochemicals with great therapeutic properties form flavonoids (Middleton, 1998). Flavonoids have been reported to have a wide range of applications in recent years in the treatment of diseases such as allergy, diabetes mellitus, cancer, viral infection, blood lipid-lowing and inflammations (Ferguson, Kurowska, Freeman, Chambers, & Koropatnick, 2006; Havsteen, 1983; Sim et al., 2007). Most of the
