摘要

Coating is a technology for improving the surface properties of materials. Sol-gel coating produces uniform composition phases of ZrO_2 with thin layers that display a good metallurgical bond to the base material. These coatings are dense and crack-free and have non-porous microstructures. The advantages of the process are that the components' surface will have lower surface roughness. In this work, Ti-6Al-4V base material was coated with zirconia to improve the surface finish. The morphology of ZrO_2 thin coating from dip coating through sol-gel process has been investigated.
