In this work,we synthesized the first molecular complex of hafnium tetrafluoride,HfF_4(alpha,alpha'-dipy)_2(I),and studied its structure in both crystal and solution.Due to the high coordination capacity of zirconium and hafnium ions,their coordination saturation-an increase in the coordination number above six-in molecular complexes of their tetrafluorides ZrF_4L_2(L = H_2O,DMSO,DMF)[1-5] is realized through the formation of dimers with fluoride bridges [1-5].In a polar solvent with a high donating ability-DMSO in
