摘要

Increasing demand in the application of near net shape aluminum alloy components with optimum cost in the automotive industry has highlighted the need for a greater understanding of the factors that influence the properties of these materials. It is also noted that squeeze casting is one of the manufacturing processes for the production of near net shape casting with improved properties. A survey of the literature indicates that a considerable amount of information is available concerning the influence of aluminum silicon alloy melt treatment such as degassing, grain refinement and modification in sand and permanent mold castings. General information's is also existing on the influence of alloying elements Mg, Fe and Si in A 356 on the mechanical and micro structural properties. However, there are no quantified details available on the influence of degassing, grain refinement and modification of indirect squeeze cast 356.0 aluminum alloy on mechanical properties in T6 condition.
